Atef Abu Saif: Leben in der Schwebe
Talk/Lection
First published in 2014, Atef Abu Saif's novel takes us to Gaza and tells the story of 63-year-old Naîm. In his print shop, he produces posters of young people who have died fighting against the Israeli occupying forces. One morning, Naîm himself is killed by an Israeli sniper's unexploded bomb.
Based on Naîm's death and the grief of his relatives, the novel delves deep into the complex and chequered history of the Gaza Strip. It gives a voice to civil society there and shows how it is fighting back.
Hartmut Fähndrich will moderate the discussion accompanying the reading.
