Lesung Gabi Vogt

Talk/Lection

Gabi Vogt reads from her book “Me. Now.” Recorded on the day the protagonists were photographed, the stories provide insights into the realities of the young people portrayed, followed by a discussion. In the exhibition

“Black Cotton Candy - A Portrait of Growing Up”, photographers Anne Gabriel-Jürgens and Gabi Vogt complement photographs from their books in an exhibition for the first time. Independently of each other, they have explored the themes of coming of age and growing up in the present day.
Gabi Vogt's powerful portraits of young people give an insight into their thoughts, what are they afraid of, what are their dreams and how do they feel here and now?
In her poetic work, Anne Gabriel-Jürgens sheds light on her personal relationship with her stepdaughter and addresses the question of identity and asks: What is a family?
“Black Cotton Candy” - an allusion to the conflicting feelings of growing up - shows touching snapshots of being young.
