Cade & MacAskill - THE MAKING OF PINOCCHIO
Who hasn’t heard the story of the wooden puppet who wanted to become a real boy? But what does it mean to become a real boy? In THE MAKING OF PINOCCHIO, Rosana Cade and Ivor MacAskill explore this question. On a film set, they encounter the Cricket, the Fairy, Geppetto, and the Whale as the transformation gradually takes place. Yet here, everything is different and has a hidden layer: The artist couple began developing THE MAKING OF PINOCCHIO in 2018 as a response to Ivor MacAskill’s gender transition. They connect their experiences with the ambiguous story of the wooden puppet who wants to be a real boy. Their shared transformation is at the heart of this tender work, which is the product of this metamorphosis. What happens when the person you love suddenly turns into someone else? A magnificent theatrical machine is set in motion, full of fantasy and real-life experiences, intimacy, and dry British humor.
Both shows are relaxed Performances.
