BREAKOUT FROM THE CAMPS, PRISONS, AND THE PATRIARCHY!

On the 11th of November 2024, six people imprisoned in the ‘Bässlergut’ prison in Basel went on hunger strike. Their radical and courageous resistan- ce is a consequence of the inhumane conditions to which the detainees are subjected: They are isolated and de- prived of their dignity, have limited ac- cess to medical care and are subjec- ted to psychological violence by the guards. The reason for their imprison- ment is a product of racial structures. People who have fled violence, perse- cution or poverty are declared illegal due to papers that are not recognised. The swiss state holds them in deporta- tion prisons, instead of offering them protection and support. The Bässlergut is no exception: It represents a euro- pean system of border, regimes and deportation policies aimed to control and oppress.

On the 8th of March 2025, we must recall that these conditions are not un- changeable. They are made by people thus can be overcome by people. Our answer is abolitionism – we demand the abolition of prisons, borders, ex- ploitation and warmongering. These inhumanities are a result of capitalist and patriarchal structures. It is no co- incidence that TINFAs, migrants, peop- le in precarious employment and queer people are affected by patriarchal vio- lence, racist oppression and social in- equality on a daily basis - our bodies and lives are controlled, marginalised and exploited.
For this reason, our fight for abolitio- nism must be anti-patriarchal. Whether worldwide, in Bässlergut, in Palestine or in Kurdistan: our vision is a world inwhich justice, solidarity and freedom are not just empty words, but a reality we live in. A world that knows no walls and borders, that does not separate people from one another, but connects them. We dream of a society in which people and their bodies are respected and in which exploitation and oppres- sion no longer have a place. Instead of state repression and control, we focus on mutual support, the liberation of all oppressed people and the creation of sustainable structures based on soli- darity.
Fighting for a just world means chan- ging the whole system. There is no anti-patriarchal struggle without class struggle. Only if we unite and stand up for each other can we be free!

Take to the streets on the 8th of March!
