Kämpfe gegen Syngenta und darüber hinaus: realistische Perspektiven und globale Solidarität
The Syngenta Group is the world's largest pesticide company. All over the world, it poisons people with its pesticides and appropriates the rights to seeds.
Soledad Castro Vargas conducts research on the global pesticide business and follows the toxic trails of Syngenta and other companies – from the fields of Costa Rica to Basel and China. The pesticide market is highly concentrated, and the balance of power is shifting: Syngenta is still based in Basel, but has been owned by the Chinese state-owned company ChemChina since 2017.
Together with Soledad, we want to ask: What does this mean for our common struggles? How do we resist Syngenta's agrochemical violence here in Basel – and how do we effectively unite across borders?
The event will be held in English, whisper-translation into German is organized.
The event is part of the global day of action «Stop Pesticides» on 3 October. Various organizations from France are mobilizing on this day to Saint-Pierre-la-Garenne (Eure) and Monthey (VS). Various actions are also taking place in Basel.
