Medical care for soldiers and injured civilians is essential for waging war. According to the German Ministry of Defense’s simulations, an additional thousand patients will need to be treated every day. As things stand today, the healthcare system would reach its capacity limits after two days. Care for civilians is to be prioritized against that of soldiers. The administration of the civilian healthcare system will be placed under military control. While working conditions in the healthcare sector are already precarious today, armed conflicts will cause this situation to escalate. The presentation will outline the plans for the militarization of healthcare systems in Germany and France. In the discussion, we will explore what resistance to these plans might look like.
