BelleVue - Ort für Fotografie

BelleVue is the place in the region where contemporary photography is exhibited and discussed. In times of cultural change, places like BelleVue are important as a "cooking pot" of creative and critical ideas and innovative contributions. They offer a "friction surface" to the usual mainstream.

We offer an established platform for contemporary photography, regularly presenting works by well-known photographers and young talents to a wide audience in our exhibition space. The events are planned and organized by photographers or interested parties who are passionate about photography. We work on a voluntary basis and are organized as a non-profit association with 200 members, 30 of whom are active. For 10 years, we have been organizing a photographically diverse, exciting and challenging programme of exhibitions and events for professionals, but also for people interested in photography who realize their own projects within the framework of BelleVue.

Support our diverse program and become a member!

∑ SUMME

Basel

The "Summe" is an association of Basel's art and project spaces. The aim is to promote exchange between artists, projects and space operators, and to make them visible.
The ∑ SUMME is reinventing itself and will offer a portal for the visibility, networking and strengthening of the Basel art scene with a brand new website from autumn 2023. The ∑ SUMME will be (even) more than the well-known biennial events: it will be agenda, info portal, archive and exhibition space.

The ∑ SUMME will be (even) more than the well-known biennial events: it will be agenda, info portal, archive and exhibition space.
The ∑ SUMME was founded in 2015 by the artist-curator collective Dr. Kuckus Labrador and in December 2015, for the first time, the group exhibition ∑ SUMME was organised with over 20 project spaces in Basel. For this, the project spaces joined forces for the first time for a larger action, which brought increased attention and provided an opportunity for the various initiatives and projects to exchange information about their activities and goals. Since 2019, the ∑ SUMME has been organised as an association.

OFF

The OFF is collective and self-organized, occupied and participative.

You can find the monthly program on our Telegram channel or as a print version.

The OFF is only accessible via 3 steps.
The toilet is not wheelchair accessible.

Magazin - Anarchistische Bibliothek Basel

Inselstrasse 79

The magazine invites you to browse through rebellious stories, exchange ideas and discuss with each other

The space is a self-organised meeting place for anyone interested in anti-authoritarian ideas. And for anyone looking for access to knowledge and history that is critical of the existing social order.

We see the writing, distribution and reading of texts – be they theoretical essays, stories or experience reports – as an important part of resistance practice. Our selection of books and brochures includes historical and current content, but is by no means complete or conclusive. In this sense, we want to broaden our perspectives, strengthen analyses and make them accessible through texts and discussions.

In addition to the library service, brochures, zines and flyers are available to borrow and take with you. Or you can drop by for a chat with us. From time to time we organise information and discussion events, as well as readings and film evenings. We are always open to suggestions. You can also find material from us to write letters to prisoners. Our address can also be used for this purpose, and letters received can be collected during opening hours.

We see ourselves as part of the fight against gentrification and displacement in the neighbourhood. Together with the collectively run neighbourhood pub Capri Bar, which is right next door, we form a place beyond the obligation to consume and the logic of profit. We want to create physical moments of community to counter the increasing shift of social life into the isolation of digital space. Let’s fill the magazine with life together!
