In their duo exhibition, Paul Fritz and Virginie Sistek revisit a familiar character: Priscilla Predator, part alien messiah, part shapeshifting mystery. Her character was originally created for an episodic radio broadcast recounting her adventures on Earth. Priscilla Predator is a tale of adaptation and the struggles of communication.

For the exhibition at For, Priscilla’s humble radio show is transformed into a proto-theatrical, live-action play: a performance presented every hour, every Saturday, without actors, fully automated.

🎬 About "Cassandro, el exotico"

The film is a unique and intimate portrait of Cassandro the lucha libre star who grew up in Juarez, Mexico. It celebrates Cassandro’s life as a former NWA World Welterweight and UWA World Lightweight Champion, and one of the world’s first openly gay luchador wrestlers.

Flora de Geus is an adventurous jazz vocalist and composer whose career spans the vibrant jazz scenes of Rotterdam, Paris and Basel. Her misic draws on a rich palette of influences, ranging from jazz legends such as Carmen McRae to genre-crossing artists such as Fiona Apple and Noname.

Eva Swiderski (voc) and Isaak Peyer (git) weave a beautiful soundscape of original compositions, textures, and songs that blend folk influences with the colors of modal jazz. Together, they explore distant worlds searching for belonging, connection, and a sense of peace that sometimes feels just out of reach.

The Wortstellwerk writing workshop – Junges Schreibhaus Basel – is kicking off the autumn season!
Every Wednesday evening, the living room at vario is open for spontaneous text coaching or free writing. The two authors Sam El-Maawi and Julia Weber take turns being on site. They know helpful tips and can give you feedback on your texts. But you can also just drop by to write. No registration required – with or without text.
You can join in via Zoom from 6:15 p.m. onwards.
