Führung «Human Song — Was uns zusammenhält»
Curators Nikolaj Jaberg and Nora Martin guide visitors through the exhibition “Human Song — Was uns zusammenhält”
The exhibition features photographs of communities—whether formed by chance, by choice, or by decree. The photographs reveal that belonging is not a fixed state, but something that is constantly being redefined through everyday life and shared activities.
In contrast to an often negative media discourse that primarily emphasizes the divisive and difficult aspects of communities, this exhibition focuses on what unites us, without overlooking how fragile this structure can be at the same time.
The exhibition brings together different perspectives on community and invites visitors to engage in conversation about it. What becomes visible are not only formal visual arrangements, but also the social dynamics behind them: moments that create closeness, strengthen connections, or mark boundaries.
“Human Song – Was uns zusammenhält” encourages us to look more closely—at encounters, relationships, and the subtle interplay that makes community possible. An exhibition about what holds us together.

Medienarbeit unter Kolonialismus und Besatzung - Im Gespräch mit Mohammed Mayara von équipe média.
3 MAY, 5.30 pm: EVENT at the Gewerkschaftshaus, Rebgasse 1:
In 1975, Morocco brutally annexed Western Sahara. As a result, thousands of Sahrawi people were forced to flee to Algeria. In the territories occupied by Morocco ever since, there has been an information blockade, which makes media work difficult. Information about human rights violations, as well as about the resistance of the Sahrawi population, only reaches the international public thanks to the courageous work of media professionals in the occupied territory.
In a conversation with Mohammed Mayara, the Info LoRa editorial team discusses journalism as a tool in the struggle for a free Western Sahara.
The event will be held in English with German translation.

TRHOLZ
Trholz is the mini lego on which the patriarchy stumbles, falls and rots in pain.
Riot punk from Toulouse, composed of Ezra on bass, Moz on drums, Ziggy on guitar and Zitoun on vocals. Their first EP «Première Pierre» ( January 2023), Trholz laid the foundation for their political struggles: an ode to the dismantling of societal norms, discrimination and patriarchal systems, it encouraged us to fight together to end the domination, oppression and discrimination of women, queer and generally, all marginalized people.
Their second EP «Interlude» (April 2025), invites us to dig, to go where we should not, where the patriarchy forbids us: to the roots of this rage that ultimately shapes us, models us and builds us all, us and our struggles remind us that we must continue to fight together, again and again.
Ipek Odabaşı
Active in underground noise scene since we can think of and keeping sonic resistance alive like the iconic TRICKSTER she is, its a pleasure and honour to have Ipek finally in Basel present her fascination for dismantling sound.
Ipeks process revolves around tension and pushing towards extreme sonic territories which leads to an unpredictable live set blending raw feedback and shifting noises.
ACCESS: this night will be filled with very loud music, screams, howls and finest noise coming from various machines and throats. we will have earplugs on site for you for free. the area is barreerfree and wheelchair accessible from toilet to venue to bar but you have to overcome cobblestones in the courtyard.

Buchbesprechung 'Microvoyage' & Klimaznacht
Climate Night + Book Discussion on Thursday, May 7, 2026
Dear climate-conscious friends 🌳,
In times of overtourism and planetary overload, Rémy Oudghiri describes in his book “Microvoyage - Le Paradis à deux pas” alternatives to “ticking off bucket lists” and long-distance travel: The microvoyager seeks not “to have seen” but “to have experienced” in their immediate surroundings.
After the book presentation 📕📘📗, we’ll discuss the question: “How can we travel responsibly—or escape the daily grind—despite the climate crisis?” Because, as Peter Handke once said: “There’s nothing better than setting out”…
We look forward to seeing many of you there!
📆 Schedule:
6:00–7:15 PM: Introduction and discussion

Gedenksprotest Ni Una Menos
On Thursday, May 7, 2026, we will commemorate those who are no longer with us, the survivors, and the bereaved. We are taking over Ni Una Menos Square because we are angry. Angry because two more femicides have occurred. We are commemorating the nine femicides in Switzerland in 2026 that we know of. But we also know that the actual number is much higher. None of these FEMINICIDES was an isolated incident; they are merely the tip of the iceberg of structural violence rooted in patriarchy. These are not relationship crimes, they are not family dramas—they are FEMINICIDES! Come one and all on May 7, 2026, at 7:00 PM to Mi Una Menos Square (formerly Market Square)! The rally is not authorized! Toxic masculinity and other toxic and discriminatory behavior will not be tolerated.

Critical Whiteness x verkörperte Antirassismus
Hello together,
🪷
I warmly invite you to the second cohort of Beyond White Guilt starting May 8th in Basel. I believe that in current times of so much collective pain we urgently need to stand together. And that all of us, but especially white people need to do the work of repair & ancestral reckoning: becoming clear where empire and seperation works through us.
This training is an offer to begin to unearth whiteness at its roots: Through somatic practice, grief work, & group process, we face inherited patterns of violence & extraction moving beyond numbness & denial, while cultivating capacities for repair in relationship - moment to moment as sustained collective struggle.
Language (german or english depending on the group)
